Lineage

Traditional Yang Style Tai ChiOur Tai Chi lineage follows Wang Young Quan family.

Biography of Grand Master Wang Yong Quan
Yang Lu Chan (1799-1872) was the creator of the Yang style of Tai-Chi chuan, the most popularized in the West. The Yang family dedicated itself to the teaching of Tai-Chi chuan, nevertheless they had a pact of not teaching the form that they themselves practiced, outside their family they only taught a less profound version. But due to special circumstance, Yang Jian Hou (one of the children of Yang Lu Chan) passed on the complete teachings to Wang Zhong Lu and his son Wang Yong Quan (1903-1987) who at that time was only 7 years old. Also, Yang Cheng Pu, the son of Yang Jian Hou, later also taught Wang Yong Quan.

Wang Yongquan (Wang Yong Quan) also dedicated himself to teaching Tai-Chi, respecting the pact. Nevertheless, at 70 years old and very influenced by the Chinese Revolution and its opening reforms, he decided to make public the secrets that until then had been kept. He, like Wei Shu Ren, one of his students, received the complete teachings of the Yang family Tai-Chi chuan and, as he was university educated, later transformed it into three books that were published in China, and finally opening one of the most wonderful secrets of the Chinese internal arts to the world, through the form “Internal Yang” (which is a simplified translation).

Originally this form, called “Lào Liù Lù” (The Six Old Ways, or work routines) consisted of 89 movements. Wèi Shù Rén simplified them, eliminating the repetitions, to 22 movements.

Biography of Grand Master Wei Shu Ren
Master We`i Shu’ Re’n was born in Beijing in 1924 and is a famous master of the Yang style, successor of Tai-Chi quan nei-gong of Yang Jian Hou. Since he was young he has very keen on Tai-Chi quan. In 1958 they found the left side of his heart had an illness and another illness related with weakness of his nervous system, which led him to carry on with Tai-Chi chuan for life.

He studied the forms of 24 and of 88 of the Yang system, the first and second routines of the Chen style, as well as sword, saber, stick, etc. His nerves illness finally improved, but his heart did not and its condition remained the same as the beginning.
In 1982 he became a formal pupil of a famous master of wu-shu of China, the great master Wa’ng Y^ong Qua’n. We`i Shu` Re’n studied very hard making progress prodigiously quickly. Master Wang became very fond of him and asked him to be his successor and spread his teachings to his pupils, as well as pour them into different books and divulge widely this style.

Master Wei Shu Ren and Zhang Xiumu In 1991 he took part in the Exchange meeting of tui-shou of the nine provinces as a representative member of the tai-chi chuan delegation of Beijing, using his genuine method of fajinr due to nei-gong and his deep technique of soft hands (su tui-shou). The people who attended valued him with high level. In may of the same year he accepted the invitation of the Asocciation of Tai-Chi quan of the Province of Hunan to visit Chan Sha and give lessons. There he was granted the title of high counsellor.

In 1994 he accepted the special invitation of the training centre Guardians of Virtue of Australia to impart teaching and was praised as famous master of great knowledge of the Yang style.

In 1995 he visited Australia again to teach.
In 1996 he accepted an invitation of a martial arts gymnasium in Taipei to impart teaching as well as carry out the presentation of his book The Genuine Teachings of Yang Style of Tai-Chi quan, Sequel.
In 1998 he visited Wen Zhou (China) as a guest of the Wu-shu Association of that city to impart teaching.
Master We`i Shu` Re’n has been doing a vast task in the field of Tai-Chi chuan and its technique for many years.

Instructor

Instructor Jinho Lee has trained in a variety of martial arts, beginning with Tanglang Quan (External Chinese Kung-fu) at the age of 13 as one way to cure his various illnesses. During this training, he encountered a limit. Although he had trained very hard, he wasn’t able to defeat bigger opponents. Determined to overcome the limits he felt, Jinho went on a journey to look for the ultimate martial art forms. Over the years, he ran into various masters and trained in many styles. It was while training internal martial-arts that Jinho achieved and developed internal force . Realizing the ultimate force comes from the earth and the mind, not red muscle, he was able to defeat opponents of any size or strength. This natural energy is available to everyone; even a small girl can do it. Internal martial-arts combines traditional combat techniques with consideration of health and meditation.
His intention is to branch his organization all over the world to teach people the balance and harmony of health and mind as a life style.

Internal Martial Arts

What is Internal Martial Arts ?
Internal Martial Artists have been called Warriors of stillness.

Martial Arts could be generalised into two categories “External” and “Internal”.

External marital arts train and develop stronger muscles and bones as well as tougher skin. It is a very demanding popular form of martial arts that is recognized today. Advantage of this training way makes people achieve some level in short period as it is easier to understand than internal martial arts theory and training. Because external martial arts was invented to be used in war for soldiers long times ago. They did not have much time to train soldiers properly. Therefore, only hard physical training was allowed to use quickly. It makes trainee strong in short period, but makes trainee's body damaged too. The drawbacks of training external marital arts is that many people would lose the speed, balance, strength and reflexes as they aged, thus you might see many sports players actually retired early. The reason is that our physical body also ages and becomes fragile, thus could not cope with the intensive training like when we were young. You may be able to do very high flying kicks and jumps in your 20s, but when you age, your body become less flexible and bones are easily brittle. Our muscles may also shrink over time, and could not perform as well as when you are young.

On the other hand, internal martial arts is training the tendons and ultimately building the internal force with strong meditation method. Old and small, it is absolutely possible to defeat bigger taller opponent if you train very hard in the internal martial arts. Comparing to the external martial arts, instead of learning the self defence techniques and skills in the fighting system, the internal martial arts slowly build the "Qi (Vital Energy)", the internal force as well as improving every important organs in your body. Some examples such as Tai Chi, Baguazhang, Xingyi quan or Aikido are demonstrating this point above well. To emphasis the fundamental of the internal martial arts, we utilise the force from the earth (related with  gravity), which slowly pass through our body, combining with the internal force to transfer to our opponent. By regular training in internal marital arts, we will develop stronger “Tendon , Ligament , and immune system” to keep sickness away from us. Unlike muscles, tendons and ligaments are long-lasting. By utilising certain parts of our body like a "Lever", a smaller person would defeat a bigger opponent with minimal force.

When we were baby or child, our body was relax, so we was able to not being injured well. For example, we can see when baby fell down from high position, but he or she was not seriously injured. However, when we getting aged, we have used brain a lot to consider many things. In this period, the tension of brain makes our entire body nervous and stiff. Nervous body is easy to fall down and being injured as it is slow to react. If your body is nervous, you can not use “Natural force”. When you control your enemy, you should make your body relax naturally, and then you should use the force of the opponent, gravity, and bounce.
Namely, you need to be a transfer, not main. If you become main object, then your muscle will be stiff, and the force from the earth will be cut. The weak can not against to someone who has stronger muscle. You just need to make your body a “Lever”. The lever can generate a big force with only a little force. And, you need to borrow the force of the gravity from the earth, not using your muscle. Nobody can against to the force of the earth in the world. When you use the force of opponent, if the opponent has big force, he would get back a bigger damage as strong as. In addition, if you add the force of the gravity and your internal force, the opponent would get damage more and more.

The general sports players use red muscle too. Most of them can not keep their force when they are old. Many people misunderstand Tai Chi is just kind of a dance or old men's exercise. Of course, current Tai Chi has been turned to an exercise for old people's health now a days. Howver, traditional one is fighting arts, and include healing energy arts as well. There are some reasons related with Chinese history when they began communism, and it is a long story and has conspiracy. There are a lot of complicate theories and cryptics in Internal Martial and Energy Arts.

It is impossible to explain and learning in short term. It has been handed by “word to mouth” between master and disciples only for long times. The secrets should not be recorded on the paper. Plus, contact experience can be gotten in person. People who study Martial Arts by themselves with only video or book can not catch the “Specific Sense” and can not correct themselves. Masters correct students' defect and sense. If you practice by yourself in the beginning and then having bad habits, it will take longer time correcting it than very beginners.Beginners do not have bad habits and are empty. So they can learn better than people who have bad habits.

Why does Internal Martial Arts move and learn slowly in the beginning? There are reasons as fighting arts, not only for meditation. The main two reasons why Internal Martial Arts practice and learn slowly are as below;

1. The fastest thing in the universe is mind rather than speed of light. You need to match your mind and body. After you can match them completely, your body can follow your mind. When you practice, it must be slow. However, it must be fast in real combat. If you practice quickly in the beginning, you can not catch the sense to match your mind and body. On the other hand, if you can synchronize the opponent's mind (using Shin (Spiritual power)), you do not even need to move quickly.

2. Most people have bad habits during they are grown up. People use red muscle and it is waste of energy, and is not strong. Internal Martial arts trains white muscle (Tendon and Ligament), not red muscle. The red muscle is stiff and easy to lose, especially when you getting older. You can not move quickly and will be easy to being injured, if your body is stiff. But Tendon and Ligament go long last, strong and flexible. Like a rubber band. In order to catch the sense of Tendon and Ligament, you have to practice slow and need to catch the sense of them. First, you should feel the energy inside your body. Second, you should follow the flowing of the energy force. Eventually, you will be able to control it.

You can learn quickly, if you want. However, you need to remember that is as same as instant food. If you get something easily and quickly, it is also easy to lose quickly. Internal Martial Arts are as same as process to make a good medicine or a sword.
If you hurry when you make a medicine, the medicine would not work well.
If you hurry when you make a sword, the sword would be broken easily.

Harmonizing Arts

Harmonizing arts. Internal martial arts involve balance and harmony, not only among people, but balance and harmony with all life: Animals, plants, air, water, rock, and everything else. During practice, one opens one’s heart and accepts the opponent’s mind. If you consider the opponent as just an enemy, then nature does not give you force. Open your heart, synchronize, and harmonize with your opponent and the earth. Then you will be able to sense everything becomes one. This one  is the ultimate theory in internal martial arts. In this practice, you can make your body and mind become peaceful and balanced. Internal martial artists should drive the physical body by mind. Otherwise, it is just as same as general sports.

Six Unification

In order to train internal martial arts, you need to unify 6 strength.
It is called Liuhe which means Six Unification, and is foundational and important theory.
This is divided each 3 unification as internal and external.

1. External 3 unification
This explains the unification of physical body.
First, unification of hands and feet.
When you use the skills with hands and feet, you can attack constantly, not being cut.
The ideal attack is that first one is fake, and next one is true.

Second, unification of elbows and knees.
It indicates to link always the both part of the main of the attack.
The elbow attack amplifies the mighty force with movement of the knee.
The knee attack is done pulling enemy’s body bending elbows at maximum.
The elbows and knees are considered the one in internal martial arts.

Third, unification of shoulders and hips.
The shoulders are related with attack of elbows. Hips are related with attack of knees.
The elbow attack comes from shoulder, and the knee attack comes from hips.
Internal force controls the power of techniques.
The unification of the elbow attack and the knee attack is amplified as internal power is used
as.
It is important the unification of shoulders and hips are required in attack with the other
parts.

2. Internal 3 Unification (Jing, Qi, Shin, Yi)
It indicates 3 strength unifications as spiritual energy.
First, the unification of spirit(Shin) and mind/will(Yi).
The spirit is moving body unconsciously, and the willing is realizing one or the plural number of skills.
When you combat having perfect skill, it controls having a confidence unconsciously.

Second, the unification of the mind/will and Qi.
Qi indicates the root of internal force with breathing. It comes from core (Dantien).
Internal force must be used always unconsciously, not only skill.
This unification is required to the next one.

Third, the unification of Qi and body/strength (Jing).
It means to contain Qi, not only body/strength in skill.
It means to contain internal force as well.
The internal force amplifies mighty power to skills which is trained in body.

YinYang Baguazhang

Tian Family YinYang Baguazhang – Traditional Chinese Martial Art

The Tian Family Yinyang Baguazhang originated in Sichuan Province . Tian Ruhong learnt the system from two Daoist priests, Biyun and Jingyun, and then taught the system to his clan members. The Tian Family has retained the system since that time until Tian Hui revealed the system to the general public in the 1980s. The system is not related to Beijing Baguazhang which was passed on by Dong Haichuan to his disciples.

Tian Family Baguazhang has a rich content, a deep theoretical base and a strong focus on training for actual combat. All movements in the system are based on four key natural movement principles, twist (ning), spiral (xuan), sit (zuo), raise (ding). Hard and soft movements are also combined in the system with the aim of training unrestricted and spontaneous explosive force. In application the system aims to adhere to the principle of “hit, grapple and throw” (chu da, chu shuai, chu na). This means that each strike must have the potential to smoothly integrate into a lock and takedown.

The system is divided into eight separate animal forms – Python, Lion, Tiger, Bear, Snake, Monkey, Horse, Eagle (peng). Each animal form is further divided into eight distinct short forms (shizhang). Each short form has three key application sequences (chengshou). In total the traditional style contains 192 application sequences.

Each animal has its own distinct appearance, like a python writhing through the forest, a lion’s majestic bearing, a hungry tiger preying, a black bear flexing its back, a white snake darting its fangs, a wild horse thrashing, a monkey guarding its catch and a giant eagle spanning its wings.

About Master Tian Keyan
Master Tian Keyan is the 10 th generation inheritor of the Tian Family Yinyang Baguazhang. He earnestly learnt from his father and has diligently continued his practice and research. He has recently developed a new form that synthesises key movement patterns from his family system called the Yinyang Fish (Yingyangyu). His aim is that beginners can save much time in their basic practice by learning this form.

About Tian’s International Wushu Cultural Exchange Centre
At Tian’s International Wushu Cultural Exchange Centre we aim to teach not only the Tian Family’s traditional martial arts but to also introduce people to traditional Chinese culture. Students can combine martial arts study with language study and/or tourism.

Circle Walking

Circle Walking is the most basic practice in Baguazhang. It cultivates the spiral force like a tornado inner body. The effect is similar feeling of self massage and to be a meditative Qigong.

This practice makes you stronger physically and mentally. This procedure trains your tendon and ligament stronger and your body would be a lever and you can obtain
the force of the earth.

The feature of tornado is calm but strong.
It accelerate and amplifier to out side.
Everything has vortex figure in nature.
The ring of gene has a figure as a vortex basically.
